We offer our guests spinning and trolling trips to the fishing waters near the fishing cottage cottage of our company as well as to the bigger open water areas of Lake Saimaa – they are the best way for you to learn the finest fishing spots and the most reliable techniques. Our aluminium fishing boat is especially equipped for spinning and is best suited for sports fishermen groups of max. 4 people.Our fishing guide Jari Kayhko has over 30 years of fishing experience on Lake Saimaa waters. He specializes in trolling of salmon, zander and pike as well as jigging of zander, perch and pike.

Boating and Fishing Trip for the Whole Family on Lake Saimaa
Welcome to our combined boating and fishing trip on Lake Saimaa. The trip is a great way to get acquainted with the Lake Saimaa nature and its wonderful views with a big and safe boat, spend some time fishing with your children and enjoy a relaxingly long lunch break on a small island. The trip takes 4 to 8 hours and leaves from Savonranta. We will stop for 3 to 4 hours on an island for a picnic lunch: we will cook coffee and tea, have a packed lunch, barbeque sausages or vendace (local small and tasty fish) on an open fire and for dessert we will make delicious pancakes.The island offers nice activities for the whole family. You can pick berries or mushrooms, explore the nature, swim or do some sunbathing. There is a shelter in case of rain, and also toilet.
We will spend 2 to 4 hours fishing. Depending on your wishes or children’s age and/or weather we can fish by angling, spinning or trolling. The trip is ideal for children from 4 to 12 years of age. Please tell us the ages and heights of your children. The trip is available May – October.
The price of the 6 hour trip is 550 Euros, including picnic lunch.
The price of the 8 hour trip is 650 Euros, including picnic lunch.
Max. number of participants for combined boating and fishing trip is 6 persons.

Trolling Trip for Landlocked Salmon and Brown Trout on Lake Saimaa
Landlocked Salmon, Brown Trout and Lake Trout are higly endangered species. Protection acts forced by state of Finland have made good results so far starting from the year 2016. One big issue is creating protected spawning areas and helping these species to be able to survive until spawning time and area. There is still a lot of work to do for making these species viable. Due these issues and lack of planted fish species having cutted adipose fins, my company has made an decision not to offer guided fishing for these species on Lake Saimaa area. Our last trolling trip for catching Landlocked Salmon and Brown Trout was organized in the year 2014. We did release all fishes caught.Our trolling trip on the fish-filled waters of Lake Saimaa is suitable for adults and older children. We will fish landlocked salmon and brown trout with special wobblers with only one triple hook. In the name of sustainable fishing, we only keep the salmon and trout that have had their adipose fin cut off. We will release back into the water all salmon and trout that have the adipose fin or are smaller than 61 cm. We also have a catch quota of 2 fish / day / trip. The trip leaves from Savonranta, takes 4 to 8 hours according to your wishes and is available during May and from October to November.

Salpa Line Charter
Raikuu canal is one of the canals, that was made by local people more or less in the middle of the 1700 -century. Later by general Suvorov's order canal was expended about 200 years ago. Suvorov was responsible of border between Sweden ja Russia of those days. Suvorov wanted to ensure the service lines from Olavinlinna (in the city of Savonlinna) to Lappeenranta, where was the fortress of Lappeenranta.Boat charter to the beautiful Raikuu Canal and the unique WWII-era defence line called Salpalinja (Salpa Line), incl. outdoors picnic by camp fire and pot coffee on an island. Whole duration of trip 4 - 5 hours. Complete route lenght 60 km / traveltime 1,5 hours.

Packed Picnic on Boat or Picnic by Campfire?
We can offer you three lunch options:1) Having lunch on the boat. Includes packed lunch and coffee and tea in thermos flasks.
2) Having lunch around an open fire. Includes packed lunch as well as coffee, tea and sausages cooked on the open fire.
3) Longer lunch around an open fire. Includes packed lunch as well as coffee, tea, sausages and vendace (local small and tasty fish) cooked on the open fire. For dessert we will make pancakes with jam.
The prices of the lunches start from 50 Euros. The packed lunch includes for example bread, Karelian rice pasties, bread spread, cold cuts, cheese, cucumber and tomatoes.
Softbait Spinning Course on Lake Saimaa!
On this one-day course you will learn in practise how to catch perch, pike and zander by softbait spinning. We will use open-faced spinning reels. You will also learn to find the best fishing areas using a plotter and an echo sounder.
The price includes usage of fishing equipments. You need to purchase fisheries management fee of the Finnish state. As our customer you are insured against accidents in the boat caused by our carelessness. For accidents that take place elsewhere (on the shore/pier) you need a personal insurance, such as your travel insurance.
Softbait spinning from an anchored or trolling motor driven (Minkota I - Pilot) boat is great for summer days when you're catching fish from the bottom, and when the fish are closer to the surface you'll learn to use jigs effectively as well.
Softbait spinning is a great fishing sport for everybody but as the equipment is light and very responsive, it is especially suitable for women and children.
On our courses you will be introduced to softbait spinning in a fun and relaxed way. You will learn the basics about the equipment, techniques, knots and different fish, but the main thing is to have a good time together, fishing and enjoying the outdoors on Lake Saimaa.
Five steps to successful soft bait spinning (jigging) on Lake Saimaa
A fisherman needs knowledge of how weather affects the behaviour and the hot spots of the target fish in his fishing area. You have to work actively to locate the fish as well as to choose the right lure for the day and the correct way to swim your bait. The most common fish caught on Lake Saimaa are perch, zander (walleye) and pike.
Step 1. Use your areal knowledge and experience with the weather conditions when you select your fishing area.
Step 2. Use a sonar to find and locate the fish before you start fishing.
Step 3. Start pinpointing the right color, model, weight and size of the soft bait lure by actively trying out different lures until you get contact with the fish.
Step 4. Try different swimming variations by reeling and using the rod to find out the right speed and swimming pattern the fish respond to.

Trolling Course on Lake Saimaa!
On this one-day course you will learn the basics of trolling with a motor boat using wobblers and spoons. You’ll become familiar with trolling equipment as well as handling a chartplotter and a sonar (fishfinder). You will also learn to look for fish in the right places and how to use the right trolling speeds and lures on Lake Saimaa.
The price includes usage of fishing equipment. You need to purchase fisheries management fee of the Finnish state. As our customer you are insured against accidents in the boat caused by our carelessness. For accidents that take place elsewhere (on the shore/pier) you need a personal insurance, such as your travel insurance.
Additional Info
Savonranta lies 60 km from Savonlinna and 80 km from Joensuu.Fishing customers over 18 years of age need to pay the national fisheries management fee (15 Euros per week). We can pay fees on your behalf if asked. For this we need to know the first name and the family name of the fisherman as well as date of birth.
If you need rain coats or boots, please tell us your clothes size (from S to XXXL), shoe size, and in the case of children their age and height. We will let you know if we don’t have rain gear in the right size for you.
Each trip begins at the time we have agreed to meet and ends when the given duration of each trip has run out. This means you’ll never be charged for any extra time – it's the responsibility of the trip guide to stay in agreed schedule.
